Valley Mills, Laneville, circa 1870

Valley Mills, along Buffalo Creek in Laneville, just above Freeport, closed in 1965. The current structure dates from around the time of the Civil War. Abner W. Lane operated several successive mills on this site prior to his sale of the parcel of land that became Laneville in 1871. It was then a three story frame steam and water mill with three runs of stone.
